Stepping up its crackdown into the Rose Valley chit fund scam in Tripura, the Central Bureau of Investigation will interrogate former Tripura social welfare minister Bijita Nath and former health and finance minister Badal Choudhury in connection with the case.
According to sources, the apex investigating agency will interrogate Bijita Nath at her Kadamtala residence in the northern district tomorrow, while Badal Choudhury will be interrogated on April 26.
A team of CBI officials have already arrived in Agartala and has reportedly sought permission of the Tripura assembly Speaker for interrogating the former ministers of the erstwhile CPI regime. Earlier too Bijita Nath was interrogated by the CBI last year.
The Trinamool Congress, the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party had separately charged the Left Front government with promoting illegal chit fund organisations and unauthorised Non-Banking Financial Organisations in the state.
The Tripura High Court had in 2015 asked the state government to set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe unlawful NBFCs and chit fund organisations.
