Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has termed the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) as ‘internal matters’ of India.

She, however, said that the Act was not necessary and that she failed to understand the reason behind its implementation by the Indian government.

She further said that there has not been any record of reverse migration from India, although people within India are facing trouble.

Her statement, came weeks after Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said that CAA and NRC were India’s internal issues. He had also expressed his concern about the uncertain future of his neighbouring countries due to the new arrangements.
