BTC elections: Over 30% polling recorded till 11:30 am

Polling is underway for the first phase of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election in Assam amid tight security arrangements. Voters queued up since early morning to cast their votes.

Polling is underway for the first phase of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election in Assam amid tight security arrangements.

Voters queued up since early morning to cast their votes. The poll percentage has been recored at 31 per cent till 11:30 am.

Around 17 per cent voter turnout was recorded in first two hours of polling.

As many as 132 candidates are in fray in the first phase of BTC election and a total of 13,59,020 voters will decide the fate of the candidates.

Out of 21 council constituencies, 11 constituencies fall in Udalguri district while 10 constituencies are in Baksa district.

The voting for 21 council constituencies in Baksa and Udalguri district began at 7-30 am on Monday and will end at 4-30 pm.
