BSF Meghalaya apprehends one Bangladeshi national near the International border

Alert troops of BSF Meghalaya apprehended one Bangladeshi national and two Indian associates near the International border of East Khasi Hills district on Monday.
Acting on specific information, troops of 110 Bn BSF Meghalaya intercepted a vehicle on the Ryngku-Mawsynram road near the international border and apprehended a Bangladeshi national who has been identified as Mohmmad Milan Ahamed, a resident of Sunamganj district Bangladesh and two Indian associates.
The arrestees were found in possession of Rs 2.32 lakh in Indian currency.
The apprehended individuals, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to the Mawsynram Police Station for further investigation.
Earlier on Sept, another 17 Bangladeshi nationals including 2 women were arrested in South West Garo Hills after entering India through Hallidayganj.
During interrogation, the infiltrators revealed that they were supposed to travel to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and had entered India with the help of middlemen.
The Meghalaya police have ramped up efforts to combat illegal immigration, particularly in the Garo Hills region, where the influx has surged alarmingly. Notably, Meghalaya Police apprehended 31 Bangladeshi infiltrators within just three days.
