Brutal: Assam woman pours hot oil on a child and 7 other women

The accused woman has been identified as Jonali Hazarika Kalita.

In a shocking and brutal incident, a woman poured hot oil on a child and 7 other women after a heated argument with the women over family matters in Assam. 

The incident was reported from Ispatnagar in North Guwahati yesterday. 

The accused woman has been identified as Jonali Hazarika Kalita. 

One of the victims said, “Jonali Hazarika Kalita has been interfering in our personal family issues for a long time. Yesterday, when I confronted Jonali as to why she has been instigating a fight in our house? She beat me with a stick. A group of women then scolded Jonali and warned her to stop attacking me. Jonali picked up the hot oil-filled pan from the stove and threw it on us causing severe burns and injuries.” 

All the injured women and the child were rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where they are currently undergoing treatment. 

Jonali Hazarika Kalita has been detained by police and is being interrogated.  

Investigation into the matter is underway.
