The Assam Government yesterday announced financial incentive under the Inter caste marriage scheme 2021-22 for couples to marrying outside their castes.

For availing incentives under the scheme, the state government has invited applications from couples who married outside their castes between April 2019 and March 2021.

The scheme will cover couples whose inter-community marriages faced stiff resistance from their families.

The state will offer an amount from which they can at least start a small business.

“Applications are invited from inter-caste married couples for availing financial incentive under the Inter Caste Marriage Scheme 2021-22,” MyGov Assam tweeted.

The last date of submitting applications has been set for December 3, 2021.

Here are the eligibility criteria to avail of the incentive:
An inter-caste marriage was performed between April 2019 and March 2021.
One spouse must belong to an SC community and the other a general caste.
The annual income of the couple shouldn’t exceed Rs 5 lakh.
