Boost to air connectivity in Assam, Flybig starts Guwahati-Dibrugarh flights from today

The budget airline would start Guwahati-Silchar-Guwahati flights from May 15
Aimed at further boosting regional connectivity in Assam and the Northeast, Flybig airlines has started flight service between Guwahati-Dibrugarh-Guwahati from today.
Flagging off the service today, Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah said, “Today is a landmark day for the tourism sector of Assam and Assam Tourism Development Corporation. Non-Udan flight services have begun from today. We have begun the services with FlyBig airlines. Today the Guwahati- Dibrugarh-Guwahati flight service began. From May 15, FlyBig will start flights between Guwahati and Silchar”.
The Minister further said that the government plans to introduce flights between Guwahati and Jorhat next to further tourism in the region. This would make travel to Kaziranga National Park more convenient. The Park is just a few kilometres away from Jorhat.
“The minimum fares of these flights can be as low. It could be just Rs 1000 or Rs 1,500. But it will not exceed Rs 4,500”, the minister said.
Taking to Twitter Minister Baruah wrote, “…pleased to flag off the first FlyBig Flight services between Guwahati-Dibrugarh-Guwahati with 65 passengers out of the capacity of 72 passengers onboard today. As per the agreement, these flight services will be executed in Non-Udan routes and will currently operate between Guwahati-Dibrugarh-Guwahati from today and Guwahati-Silchar-Guwahati from 15th May this month. The timings for Guwahati to Dibrugarh will be 9:35 AM and Dibrugarh to Guwahati will be 3:10 PM everyday. Today is a very significant day for ATDC and I hope this initiative will definitely help in the developmental journey of Assam.”
ATDCL (Assam Tourism Development Corporation Limited) will support FlyBig through VGF (viability gap funding) funding and daily operation of flights in both the sectors will be decided mutually by both the parties, the Minister said.
Also present at the flagging off event was FlyBig Chairman Sanjay Natvarlal Mandavia and Vice Chairman of ATDC Dilip Das.
