7 to 8 rounds of gunfire were reported at around 1:40 AM early Wednesday morning
Shots were fired past midnight at a children’s home in Imphal West district. Police said at least 7 to 8 rounds of gunfire were reported in the early hours of Wednesday, at around 1:40 AM, at the Children Home for Boys located at Sagolband Meino Leirak in Imphal West district.
According to CCTV footage, two unidentified masked individuals arrived at the premises and opened fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the children or staff.
Police personnel have rushed to the scene. A case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.
The children’s home has around 30 boys and is run by the United Social Development Association under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) of the Social Welfare Department, Government of Manipur.
The situation at the children’s home is tense, police is present at the home and locals are staging a sit-in protest in front of the children’s home.
