ANSU has made it clear that they do not oppose the creation of Bichom district, but wants that all necessary procedures be followed

The All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) today said that they are not opposed to the creation of Bichom district but made it clear that not an inch of East Kameng district will be given for the creation of the new district if proper procedures are not followed.

ANSU demanded that the Arunachal Pradesh government look into all the aspects before announcing the proposed district.

Speaking to Northeast Live, ANSU vice-president Rahim Yangfo said, Until there is a proper demarcation, the ANSU will not be sharing land from the East Kameng district with any other district until it is done through an official procedure. If the procedures are right than the ANSU is ready to welcome it, be it any district, not only Bichom. After that another district can be carved out of it. That too is welcome. But we are seeking that it should be done through proper procedure.”

The ANSU leader also called for Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s active intervention into the matter and expressed faith in his leadership.

Yangfo said, “We have hopes in Pema Khandu’s leadership. Under your leadership, a situation should not happen where there is chaos in the name of creation of a small district and everyone faces criticism. We hope that you (CM Pema Khandu) will find out as to where there have been lapses in the procedures, it must be found whether the proposal fulfils the criteria for the creation of a district. We will be happy if you (CM Pema Khandu) go through all these points and then make the announcement (creation of Bichom district). You (CM Pema Khandu) should give directions that all procedures need to be fulfilled for the creation of the new district after which the announcement must be made.”

A proposal for creation of Bichom district, was moved by the Bichom District Creation Committee (BDCC), headed by Bomdila-Nafra MLA Dongru Sanchoju.

If reports are to be believed, in its representation for the proposed Bichom district, the committee has included 11 villages in Bana administrative area, such as Tallom Sima, Pangkar, Chambung, Mora, Richukrong (circle headquarters), Yaasing, Bana, Bana village, Tamne, Wotte and Silla. Similarly, in Lada circle, four Nyishi villages – Tawe, Gikung Waii, Rapung and Liyak – besides Puroik villages like Dongko, Peo, Sutuk, Welling and Kojo-Rojo, etc, have been included.

The proposed Bichom district, if the government gives a nod, will be carved out from Nafra in West Kameng district and Lada and Bana in East Kameng district.
