According to Bharat Biotech, the test results have shown that subjects who received a booster dose of Covaxin six months after getting a primary two-dose series of the same vaccine neutralised the Omicron and Delta variants.
Earlier studies had demonstrated the neutralising potential of Covaxin against other variants, namely Alpha, Beta, Delta, Zeta, and Kappa.

Based on emerging data, it is believed that a third dose may be highly beneficial to maintain the highest levels of protection.
Late last year, Covaxin, India’s first domestically developed COVID-19 vaccine, received a WHO emergency-use listing. More than 201 million doses of it have been administered in the country.
