Meanwhile, Meghalaya Assembly Speaker and UDP President Metbah Lyngdoh while responding to Bernard Marak’s latest police custody said that it was imperative for the law to take its own course.

However, when asked about the allegations of any political vendetta against Marak, Metbah Lyngdoh refrained from speaking on the issue.

Metbah Lyngdoh has stated that UDP and HSPDP are still there under the banner of RDA till the end of this term. Speaking to the media, Lyngdoh said there will be no pre-poll alliance with the National People’s Party, however, it will honor the one with the Hill State People’s Democratic Party that was endorsed before 2018 under the Regional Democratic Alliance till the end of the present term.

Further, Lyngdoh said that with elections just around the corner, UDP is ready to fight with any party and ensure that its candidates, team, and organization are in place to fight with any candidates from any political party.

He stated the party will stress the quality of the candidates, particularly those with a mind-set to work for the people of the state.
