Bajali sub-division in Assam formally declared as district

Assam Governor Professor Jagdish Mukhi has formally declared Bajali sub-division as a new district. With this, the total number of districts in the state has reached 34.

The newly-formed district of has been carved out of the Barpeta district.

“For Administrative Expediency, the Governor of Assam is pleased to sanction the formation of a new Administrative District to be known as “Bajall” Comprising the whole area of existing Bajall Civil Sub-Division of the District of Barpeta with its Headquarter at Madan Rauta Nagar, Pathsala,” stated an official notification issued by the General Administration Department.

Meanwhile, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has expressed his happiness over the formation of the new district.

Congratulating the people of Bajali, Sonowal wrote on Twitter, “Today is a great day for the people of Bajali subdivision as formal notification declaring it as a district has been issued. I congratulate the people on this occasion. I believe this will pave way for faster development of the educational and cultural hub of Assam.”
