Attack on Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh unfortunate, matter of concern says CM Sangma

CM Sangma assured strict action will be taken against those involved in the attack on the Minister

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today termed the recent attack on his Cabinet colleague and Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh as ‘unfortunate’ and a ‘matter of concern’. He assured strict action against those involved.

Speaking to media persons, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said, “It is a matter of concern, these kinds of incidents are unfortunate. Strict action will be taken against those involved. These kinds of incident should not happen to anybody. Necessary actions to be taken.”

Stating that it was not just about an attack on a legislator, Sangma said that these kinds of incidents should not happen to anybody.

“It is the duty of police and administration to take action. We ensure necessary action will be taken and we are having a review today on this issue to ensure these kinds of activities don’t happen in the future,” he added.

On July 12, Meghalaya Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh was attacked by a man carrying a machete at her home around 7.30 pm.

The accused man has been arrested.
