Assam’s Covid cases on rise, 591 new infections in 24 hours

Assam’s Covid-19 case tally is steadily rising with a total of 591 fresh cases detected in the last 24 hours. With this, the State currently has 1,979 active Covid-19 cases.
Assam’s Covid-19 case tally is steadily rising with a total of 591 fresh cases detected in the last 24 hours. With this, the State currently has 1,979 active Covid-19 cases.
The Covid caseload of the state currently stands at 6,22,488.
Out of the fresh cases, a total of 279 cases have been detected in Kamrup (Metro) district marking a significant rise since the previous day which was just 190.
Meanwhile, 54 cases were reported from Kamrup Rural following Hojai (31), Jorhat (23), Tinsukia (2) and one case each from Barpeta and Sonitpur.

The fresh cases have been detected out of more than 34,000 tests conducted in the state. Assam’s Covid positivity rate stands at 1.72 percent.
Meanwhile, four Covid related deaths have been reported during the period. The total death toll due to infection in Assam stands at 6,174.
A total of 196 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and were discharged from hospitals bringing the total number of recoveries to 6,12,988.
The state’s recovery rate stands at 98.47 percent.
