Assam’s Covid-19 tally has taken a massive spike with nearly 8000 cases being reported in the last 24 hours.

In the latest numbers, a total of 7,929 fresh cases of infection have been reported from the state which pushed the total tally to 6,78,057.

The state’s active caseload stands at a total of 41,118.

Out of these fresh cases, the Kamrup Metropolitan district topped the list with 1,716 cases followed by Dibrugarh (486), Kamrup Rural (424), Cachar (422).

With these fresh cases, Assam‘s Covid positivity rate now stands at 12.92 percent. 

On the other hand, the state reported 12 covid related deaths yesterday taking the death toll to 6,260.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,960 patients attained recovery and were discharged bringing the total number with recoveries to 6,29,332. This put Assam’s recovery rate at 92.81 percent.
