"There is no secret about what happened. It was a very terrible accident where two people lost their lives," the DGP said
Nagaland Director General of Police (DGP) Rupin Sharma on Thursday asserted that there was no foul play with regard to the case of two youths from Assam who were found dead in Mon district of Nagaland and there is no attempt to hide anything.
“There is no secret about what happened. It was a very terrible accident where two people lost their lives,” the DGP said.
Sharma pointed out that the preliminary objection raised from Assam side was about post mortem not being conducted which led to the suspicion of foul play.
Clarifying on the matter, the DGP said that as per the doctors who were present it was a clear case of accident and not otherwise, “The doctors in Mon said that the cause of death was very apparent because of the injury to the head, it was smashed very badly. So, that was the reason why the regular post mortem was not conducted.”
Sharma however said that to rule out any foul play even at this stage there is nothing that prevents the Assam Police, Government or the people from doing a post mortem.
The bodies of two youths hailing from Charaideo district were found dead under mysterious circumstances in Nagaland’s Mon district on September 26. The duo reportedly went to the Mon district for certain business purposes on September 22, and their half-naked bodies were found in a mountainous area with several injury marks. It is suspected that the youths, residents of the Sonari area of Charaideo district, were murdered by unidentified miscreants. The slain youths were reportedly carrying Rs 1.80 lakh, and the amount was also not found at the time of the recovery of the bodies. Police from both Mon and Charaideo districts went to the areas and started a probe.
