Assam Sizzles As Mercury Soars To Over 38 Degree Celcius, Met Dept Predicts Temperature Will Remain 4-5 Degrees Above Normal

There seems to be no respite from the sweltering heat. Amid the ongoing heatwave that has gripped Assam, the Met department has predicted that soaring temperatures are likely to continue in the state, at least till tomorrow.

According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in Assam is likely to be 4 to 5 degrees higher than the average of 35 degrees in the next 48 hours.

The temperature in the capital city, Guwahati, soared today with the mercury touching 38 Degree Celsius. The temperature was around 3 degrees above normal.

As per the Regional Meteorological Centre located in Borjhar, Guwahati, the sky will remain cloudy for the next 48 hours, but the temperature will be above 35 degrees Celsius.

Earlier on Sunday, North Lakhimpur recorded the highest temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius in Assam.
At the same time, Dibrugarh recorded 38.5, Tezpur 38.5, Nagaon 38.2, Guwahati 38.2, Rangia 38 and Tinsukia recorded 37.9 degrees Celsius.

As per IMD forecast, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur in some of the northeastern states in next four days but at isolated places. On Monday, thunderstorms and lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places over the seven northeastern states. Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram, on Monday.
