Acting on specific inputs, sleuths of the CID arrested ex-DIG PK Dutta from the India-Nepal border on Tuesday.

Subsequent to this, the kingpin was handed over to the West Bengal police. The Assam police would take him in custody in due course of time and bring back to the state.

Dutta was absconding since the paper leak case was exposed on September 20.

It may be mentioned that ‘trial exam’ was held a day before the examination. This came to light following which Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal directed for cancellation of the examination.

However, co-accused in the scam, Diban Deka continues to evade arrest. A total of 32 individuals have been arrested so far in connection with the paper leak case.

The Assam Police Sub Inspector recruitment examination had to be canceled after the alleged leak of the question paper on social media.
