Assam reports 2,179 new COVID-19 cases, tally reaches 96,771

Assam on Wednesday reported 2,179 cases of COVID-19 out of 36,225 tests conducted in last 24 hours. The overall coronavirus cases tally rose to 96,771. Of the new cases, 531

Assam on Wednesday reported 2,179 cases of COVID-19 out of 36,225 tests conducted in last 24 hours. The overall coronavirus cases tally rose to 96,771.

Of the new cases, 531 cases were detected from Kamrup (M), 152 from Dibrugarh, 136 from Cachar, 134 from Jorhat and 122 from Kamrup (R).

Taking to Twitter Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “2,179 COVID cases detected today out of 36,225 tests done in last 24 hours Positivity Rate- 6.01% Kamrup M- 531, Dibrugarh- 152, Cachar- 136, Jorhat- 134, Kamrup R- 122.”

Total cases: 96,771, Recovered: 74,814, Active cases: 21,680, Deaths: 274

With a positivity rate of 6.01 per cent, the number of active cases in the state stands at 21,680.

Meanwhile, 14 more patients succumbed to the infection on Wednesday, taking the death toll to 274.
