Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta on Wednesday assured that the state is ready to tackle the third wave of COVID-19. The state has augmented its resources and the health department is ready for the third wave, the minister said.
Speaking to mediapersons, Keshab Mahanta informed that work for setting up of Pediatric Intensive Care Units (P-ICU) has started in all the Medical Colleges of Assam. Also, all district hospitals will have Pediatric ICUs. Though there is very little data on how the third wave will affect the children, the health department is doing all it can to prevent any kind of escalation.
The Central government has asked the states to prepare for the third wave. Keeping that in mind, Assam govt has already begun work to set up 1,000 Pediatric ICU beds, said Mahanta.
