In a distressing turn of events, a pregnant woman lost her life after allegedly being administered wrong injection. The incident took place at Dhemaji Civil Hospital.
The woman, identified as Lakhimai Pegu from Bhangidia village, Dhemaji, was admitted to the hospital at around 9 PM on Tuesday. Initially, doctors indicated that it was not yet time for her delivery, and she seemed to be in good health.
However, the situation took a turn for the worse around 7 AM on Wednesday. Doctors then decided to give her an injection, but this turned out to be fateful for the pregnant woman as within ten minutes of receiving the injection, Lakhimai Pegu passed away.
Her family has alleged that she was given the wrong injection leading to her untimely death. The family’s grief quickly turned into anger, leading to protests against the hospital’s doctors.
“She was hospitalized at around 9 PM on Tuesday and the doctors said that the delivery time had not come. Till this morning she was doing fine until an injection was given to her for her labour pain at 7 am after which she collapsed and within 10 minutes she lost her life”, said one of her family members.
