Assam police have seized drugs worth Rs 7 crore in a raid at the Assam-Nagaland border in Karbi Anglong district and arrested one drug peddler in connection with the case.
The arrested drug peddler has been identified as Shahid Hussain.
Police conducted a raid on a local ice factory at Lahorijan of Bokajan in Karbi Anglong district. During the raid, Police seized 1 kg 100 grams of drugs in 94 plastic boxes inside a coffin from the ice factory.
Police said that Shahid Hussain was shot in his leg while he was trying to escape.
He is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Diphu.
Noteworthy here is that Hussain has earlier been jailed on charges of drug trafficking.
Earlier on July 2, Assam police have seized drugs worth Rs 12 crore and arrested three drug peddlers in two separate operations in Kamrup district.
