Assam police seize drugs worth over Rs 2 cr from two different locations in the state

The police also recovered one mobile phone from the arrested drug peddler.

Assam Police arrested a drug peddler and seized a large quantity of contraband drugs from his possession in Cachar district on Saturday. 

The estimated value of the seized contraband drugs is around Rs 2 crore. The accused has been identified as Azad Uddin Barlaskar (31).

Cachar Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta said that based on a tip-off, a team of police from the Cachar district carried out an operation and intercepted a vehicle at Banskandi-Silchar road.

“During the search, the police team recovered and seized 18,000 Yaba tablets from the vehicle and arrested one drug peddler in Cachar district. The market value of the seized drugs is estimated at around Rs 2 crore,” SP Mahatta added.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.

In another incident, Manikpur police busted a drug racket in Bongaigaon district’s Dongaigaon area and arrested one drug peddler.

In an operation carried out by the Manikpur Police Station, heroin worth Rs 5 lakh was seized from the arrested peddler.

The peddler has been identified as Dinesh Ali. The seized heroin was concealed in 10 soap cases in 10 packets.

The police also recovered one mobile phone from the arrested drug peddler.
