Lynch mobs are now not even sparing pilgrims in Assam. Three pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh were targeted on suspicion of being child lifters in Mahur block of Dima Hasao district.
The trio were attacked by an irate mob with stones and also brutally assaulted. The incident took place when the pilgrims were waiting at the Mahur Railway station while on their way to Sundari Temple in Tripura.
The victims however had a narrow escape as the police intervened just in time for their rescue. Even after the arrival of the police, the furious mob continued pelting stones on the pilgrims who were on a tour to different religious spots in the Northeast including the Kamakhya temple.
