The Election Commission of India on Tuesday issued notification for the process of filing nomination papers by candidates for the first phase of Assam assembly elections to be held on March 27.

“Notification for Phase 1 of Assam #AssemblyElections2021 has been issued today. The nomination process for 47 Assembly Constituencies begins with the issue of notification,” tweeted Election Commission of India.

The Assam assembly elections will be conducted in three phases – on 27 March, 1 April and 6 April. On the other hand, votes will be counted on 2nd May.

The last date for submission of nomination papers by candidates is 9 March and the last date for withdrawal of candidature in this phase has been fixed at 12 March.

The first phase covers 47 constituencies spread across 11 districts.
