The arrests were made after police earlier arrested seven alleged gang members from a lodge in Guwahati.
The alleged mastermind of a cash-for-jobs racket has been arrested. The alleged mastermind identified as Kuhiram Deka has been arrested from Mangaldoi along with his associate Pinku Barua.
The arrests were made after police earlier arrested seven alleged gang members from a lodge in Guwahati. Based on the inputs they gave during interrogation; fresh arrests were made.
Kuhiram Deka is reportedly a grade IV employee of the water resources department. Meanwhile, Pinku Barua is reportedly a journalist from Kalaigaon.
Police have stated that there are several cases already lodged against Kuhiram Deka. Meanwhile, two other gang leaders identified as Rafikul Hussain and Ajijul Haq are still absconding.
The gang had reportedly duped more than a hundred people while taking bribes from them and providing them with fake appointment letters.
Noteworthy here is that Kuhiram Deka had been arrested over corruption charges earlier as well. Even after facing the arrest, Deka was reportedly out on bail and had been a part of the racket that had been duping people with fake appointment letters.
Meanwhile, police are conducting raids in many other parts of the state to nab others who may be associated with his cash-for-jobs racket.
It has also been found that Deka also possesses disproportionate assets in comparison to his meagre government salary.
