Assam: Man killed in firing by forest officials in Kokrajhar

Local residents expressed their anger and demanded a thorough investigation and justice for the loss of life.
A man was allegedly shot dead by forest officials at Jharbari village in Assam’s Kokrajhar district, triggering protest on Sunday.
The incident occurred when the victim was carrying wooden poles on his bicycle.
According to inputs, the Forest Department personnel were on routine patrolling when they found some suspicious movement and opened fire, during which Hemanta Narzary, a resident of Gyanipur village in Serfanguri, was hit by a bullet.
Following the incident, Narzary succumbed to his injuries.
The incident has sparked protests. Local residents expressed their anger and demanded a thorough investigation and justice for the loss of life.
