Assam is partner state of Nagaland’s 24th Hornbill Festival: CM Rio

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today announced that Assam is the partner state of the 24th Hornbill Festival starting from December 1, 2023 at the Naga Heritage Village of Kisama in Kohima district.
Announcing the partnership, CM Rio exuded confidence that this will further enhance and strengthen the age-old bond between the Assamese and Naga people.
Nagaland is looking forward to welcome the cultural and music ambassadors from Assam, said CM Neiphiu Rio.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, CM Rio expressed his gratitude to his Assam counterpart Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for making the partnership a reality.
“I am happy to announce Assam as Partner State of the #HornbillFestival2023. My gratitude to the Hon’ble
@CMOfficeAssam Shri @himantabiswa Ji for your positive response and making this partnership a reality. Welcome, Amazing Assam to the #LandOfFestivals,” CM Rio wrote on X.
In reply, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on X, “It is an absolute privilege for Assam to join hands with Nagaland for the upcoming Hornbill Festival. This festival has emerged as one of the greatest platforms to showcase the shared cultural heritage of North East.”
Assam’s Chief Minister Office also confirmed on X that a delegation of cultural performers and artists will be representing the state at the festival.
Germany, Colombia, and United States of America are the partner countries for the festival.
Known as the Festival of Festivals, the Nagaland government organises this 10-day annual festival every year to showcase the traditional and contemporary culture of Nagaland.
The festival was first held in the year 2000 with the goals of preserving and protecting Naga culture as well as opening doors for employment and economic progress.
