In a major breakthrough, the Assam Police have rescued six minor Assam girls from the clutches of human traffickers from four different states over the last 10 days, police said.
The minor girls were rescued after several police stations in the Karbi Anglong district received missing person’s complaints, said Kangkan Kumar Nath, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP).
“The first FIR was registered at Diphu police station on December 8,” he said. “Acting on it, we rescued a 16-year-old girl from Fatehabad in Haryana and also arrested one human trafficker,” said Kangkan Kumar Nath.
The official stated that when the district’s Bokajan police station received four more complaints, an operation to rescue the girls was launched. During the operation police rescued two girls from Assam’s Bokajan railway station, and one each from Dimapur railway station in Nagaland and Tinsukia in Assam.
Another 14-year-old girl was rescued from Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district.
