Assam’s eminent folklorist and litterateur Dr. Prabin Chandra Das passed away today.

Das passed away today morning at the age of 80. 

Prabin Chandra Das was admitted at the Health City hospital in Guwahati after he suffered a brain stroke on August 26 while delivering a keynote address at an academic seminar at Nagaon Girls College. 

He had been a retired professor in the department of folklore research at Gauhati University. 

He is also the father of our (Northeast Live) chief of bureau Arindam Das.

Das was also known for his writings. Some of his best-known and well-known works are ‘Bon Birinar Sat,’ ‘ ‘Seuj Monor Din,’ Boxontar Bauli Bukusat,’ and ‘Xomaj Xahitya Xangskriti,’ the latter of which was translated into English as Society Literature Culture.
