Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today addressed three election rallies in poll-bound Gujarat. CM Sarma is among the top star campaigners of BJP in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’s home state that goes to polls on December 1.
Addressing a rally in Adipur,, CM Sarma took a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and said, “We all know and respect what Mahatma Gandhi had done for the nation. We do not want a duplicate Gandhi to run the nation.”
He addressed rallies also at Gandhinagar and Anjar.
Earlier in the day the CM was given a warm and “enthusiastic” welcome after he landed in Gujarat to address the election rallies.
“Humbled to receive an enthusiastic welcome from karyakartas & leaders of @BJP4Gujarat at Kandla Airport, Gujarat. With such positive energy among our party karyakartas and love of the people, I’m confident that we will continue to touch new
heights of glory,” CM Sarma tweeted.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief JP Nadda, and Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath
Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Gujarat BJP Chief CR Patil, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Union Ministers Arjun Munda and Smriti Irani, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh’s Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Bhojpuri singers and party
MPs Manoj Tiwari, actor-politician Ravi Kishan and singer-politician Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’ are the other star campaigners for BJP in Gujarat.
The state goes to poll in two phases on December 1 and 5. Counting of votes will take place on December 8.
With the entry of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) the political scene in this BJP bastion has heated up.
Despite the BJP sweeping the 2021 Gujarat local body elections by winning all corporation and district panchayats, the AAP has emerged as a new factor as the party has made significant inroads.
