Border Security Force (BSF) jawan from Assam, Bipul Bora who hails from Sivasagar district, was martyred at Kanker in Chhattisgarh on Thursday during an encounter with maoists.
The gunfight started when maoists opened fire on the soldiers when they were out for a search operation. When the security men were advancing through a forest patch, a group of naxals fired at them, leading to a gun battle.
The encounter went on for 3 hours after which 4 jawans including Bipul Bora were martyred. Two other BSF jawans were injured and as per reports, they are in critical condition.
