Assam’s rising star, Bedabrat Bharali, has made headlines by winning two gold medals and one bronze at the ongoing Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship in Fiji. Competing in the 73kg youth and junior categories, the 17-year-old showcased his incredible talent by lifting 136kg in snatch and 164kg in clean and jerk. His remarkable performance not only secured him his gold medals but also a bronze in the senior group, emphasing his versatility and strength against a backdrop of fierce competition.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated Bedabrat. In a tweet, CM Sarma wrote, “Heartiest congratulations to Bedabrat Bharali for clinching a Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship, Fiji in the 73kg category at the Youth division of the tournament. Wishing him a bright future ahead!”
With over 200 lifters from 25 countries participating, the championship, which commenced on September 16, highlights the best in weightlifting.
