Assam: Birendra Prasad Baishya, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa file nominations for RS polls

AGP candidate Birendra Prasad Baishya and BJP candidate Kamakhya Prasad Tasa on Tuesday filed their nominations for the two Rajya Sabha seats in Assam. Former union minister Baishya was among the first to file his nomination in the Assam Assembly.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, BJP’s top strategist for Northeast and NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam BJP president Ranjit Dass, AGP president Atul Bora, besides BPF leader Chandan Brahma, other ministers and MLAs accompanied the two leaders for filing their nominations.

Earlier, on Monday former Lok Sabha MP Tasa’s name was finalized for one of the Rajya Sabha seats in a joint legislature party meeting of the BJP and its alliance partner AGP.

Meanwhile, the BJP will extend its support to former union minister and AGP leader Birendra Prasad Baishya who is contesting in the other seat as per agreement between both the parties.
