‘Assam: An Ethnic Mosaic’, a collection of essays penned by eminent personalities on the various ethnic groups of Assam was released today at a special event held at the NEDFI
‘Assam: An Ethnic Mosaic’, a collection of essays penned by eminent personalities on the various ethnic groups of Assam was released today at a special event held at the NEDFI House in Guwahati. The book was released by Pride East CMD and noted philanthropist Riniki Bhuyan Sharma who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, and Assam Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta who was the Guest of Honour.
The book which has been edited by Northeast Live editor in chief Wasbir Hussain and Additional Director General of Police Hiren Chandra Nath and has 20 chapters on the different ethnic groups of Assam written by leading experts on the subject.
Pride East CMD Riniki Bhuyan Sharma hailed the book as a beautiful initiative that goes into the minute details of the diverse history, culture, and tradition of the ethnic groups of Assam.
Meanwhile, Northeast Live Editor-in-Chief Wasbir Hussain said that the book celebrates Assam’s diversity, and gives a pen picture of all the major ethnic groups in the state which have been written by authorities on the subject, including historians, academicians and connoisseurs of tribal art and culture. He added that the initiative behind the book was particularly to aid administrators and researchers who need to understand the state’s demography and ethnic mix.
Echoing similar views, ADGP Hiren Nath said the book would especially help the younger generation and those coming from outside to have a better understanding of Assam.
Among the other key dignitaries present on the occasion included Special DGP GP Singh, and Guwahati Police Commissioner Harmeet Singh.
