Assam: 3 Bangladeshi nationals held in Cachar

Upon interrogation, the trio accepted that they were Bangladeshi nationals and have illegally entered India to smuggle cattle into Bangladesh from Cachar.

At least 3 Bangladeshi nationals were detained in Katigorah area of Cachar district in Assam.

The Bangladeshis were apprehended by the village defence organization on Sunday night from the Kinnakhal market of Cachar district at the India-Bangladesh border.

According to reports, few members of the village defence organization suspected the trio when they were moving around the market. On suspicion, the defence organization detained the three persons.

Upon interrogation, the trio accepted that they were Bangladeshi nationals and have illegally entered India to smuggle cattle into Bangladesh from Cachar.

After the confession of the three Bangladeshi’s, the village defence organization informed the Police about the incident and handed the trio to them.

Meanwhile, a range of illegal items, including sharp weapons, were also recovered in the possession of the detained individuals.

However, the police have not been able to eradicate this trafficking racket.
