21 year Guwahati boy wins 3 gold medals in World Power Lifting competition

Guwahati boy Adityaraj Sarma brought laurels to the state by winning three gold medals at the recently held World Power Lifting competition by WPC at Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on November 13.

Guwahati boy Adityaraj Sarma brought laurels to the state by winning three gold medals at the recently held World Power Lifting competition by WPC at Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on November 13.

Adityaraj (21), competed for the U90kg full raw junior power-lighting junior and secured first place.

Sarma also won the first position in the junior (20 – 23 years) raw dead-lift only event and under 90 kg full power lifting open category.

He had to do 200 kg squats, 120 kg Bench Press, and 240 kg Deadlift at 85 kg in the drug-tested group, for a total of 560 kg.

Prior to winning gold at the WPC, earlier he had also won the national gold in powerlifting held at Bangalore this year.

The competition was organised by the World Power Lifting Congress between 12th to 14th November 2021.

Adtiyaraj is currently pursuing MA in history from Delhi University. He completed his studies from Ramjas College, Delhi University, with first-class history honours during his graduation.

He is the son of Tirtharaj Sarma and well-known singer Mrinmoyee Goswami.
