Arunachal’s Charu Pesi does it again, wins Gold in weightlifting at National Games

Charu Pesi won the Gold in the men's 61-kg category, in 2022 too he had won Gold at the National Games
It was a brilliant exhibition of strength and control by Arunachal weightlifter Charu Pesi earning him the gold in the wieghtlifting 61-kg category at the 37th National Games. This is his second consecutive National Games gold.
Charu Pesi lifted a total of 267 kg, while Assam’s Sidhanta Gogoi finished with the silver medal with a total lift of 266 kg. Subham Todkar of Maharashtra secured bronze by lifting 263kg.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated Charu Pesi on his success. In a post on X Chief Minister Khandu said, “We are immensely proud to congratulate Charu Pesi, whose exceptional skills and determination have earned him the Gold Medal in the challenging 61 kg category at the prestigious 37th National Games hosted in Goa. 🥇 Your remarkable victory inspires us all!.”
The promising athlete’s gold rush continued this year too. In the 2022 edition of the National Games, Pesi had won the gold medal.
In 2019 Charu Pesi created 2 national records in the Youth and Junior National Weightlifting Championship in the clean and jerk and the total categories. He won the gold and became the national champion by lifting 112 kgs in snatch, and 142 kgs in clean and jerk – a total of 254 kgs.
