Arunachal’s Charu Pesi and Golom Tinku Win Gold Medals at National Weightlifting Championships 2024 in Himachal Pradesh
Charu Pesi and Golom Tinku from Arunachal Pradesh secured gold medals at the 2024 Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWLF) National Weightlifting Championships in Himachal Pradesh.
Pesi, aged 17, competed in the senior men’s 61 kg category, lifting 269 kg with a snatch of 117 kg and a clean and jerk of 152 kg. His impressive performance also earned him an overall bronze medal in the same category.
Tinku excelled in the junior men’s 61 kg category, lifting a total of 260 kg, consisting of a snatch of 117 kg and a clean and jerk of 143 kg.
Both lifters have now qualified for the 38th National Games, which will take place early next year in Uttarakhand.
The IWLF National Championships, which run from October 7 to 13, have attracted 860 participants, including 480 male and 380 female athletes, competing in different age groups and categories.
