Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu assured that the road to Mago Chuna will be blacktopped by this winter

The Pema Khandu government in Arunachal Pradesh is making relentless efforts to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of developing the border areas of the nation. As history reflects, the frontier state is of great strategic importance since it shares the longest border with China and Tibet (which China claims to be its own part).

Despite China’s claims over Arunachal Pradesh, India has continuously maintained that the state is an integral part of the nation. With the idea of transformation in mind, PM Modi had initiated the Vibrant Village program, where Arunachal Pradesh has the lion’s share of villages included.

One such area is Mago Chuna, a forward village near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China. Ignored since decades, things changed after the Vibrant Village program kicked off. It took days to reach Mago Chuna because of the rough terrain making life too difficult for the civilians as well as the security forces guarding the nation. However the scenario has changed a lot now.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu highlighting the scale of progress in this far flung area of the state said,

We share the longest border (Northern) with China and Tibet. If you see from Jammu and Kashmir to Arunachal, we share 35% of the border with both the countries which is about 1200 km in length.
PM Modi’s vision-development is taking place in the mainland but developing the border areas is also of utmost necessity. Earlier, it took days for us to reach Mago Chuna. It took around 2 days to reach here by foot from Jang. For the security forces it took around 3 days. But today under the PM Sadak Yojana & supported by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the road from Thingbu hydel to Mago Chuna has been completed. Black topping for this road will also be done at the earliest during this winter.

Under the vibrant village program, target is to strengthen the northern villages and make it economically viable. The role of the Army and the ITBP is very important to develop the border villages,” CM Khandu added.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also spoke on as to how the Centre decided to transform Mago Chuna.

He said, “For the first time the Mago Chuna area now has access through motorable roads. PM Modi’s idea of Vibrant Village program is paying dividends as roads, electricity have reached here, there is water supply too. There was no development earlier, whatever happened was done only in the last 9 years. The border areas were neglected earlier, but after Modi ji became the PM, development of border areas was included as priority in policy making. The road in which we are walking has been carved out despite huge geographical challenges. It is due to the vision and policy of PM Modi that our borders are safe and secure. People in the bordering areas as well as the security forces have benefitted a lot due to this.
We have rolled out different schemes for development of border areas. We have put mobile towers, power supply and road connectivity are our priorities. If there are roads, development will follow. This place will soon become a tourist hub.

Both the leaders were speaking after attending Gandhi Jayanti celebrations with the forces in the forward area.
