Arunachal Pradesh: Black-necked crane arrives in Nyamjang Chhu

These cranes are highly revered by the Monpas as the embodiment of sixth Dalai Lama, and is considered auspicious.
The arrival of majestic black necked cranes at Nyamjang Chhu, in Zemithang valley, has brought joy to people across Arunachal Pradesh.
The seasonal migratory birds from Sino-Tibetan plateau, generally visit Arunachal Pradesh to get rid of the extreme winter, seeking favourable habitats, and Nyamjang Chhu, one of the wintering sites at Zemithang, under Tawang district, and Sangti valley in West Kameng district are the two wintering sites in India.
These cranes are revered by the Monpas as the embodiment of sixth Dalai Lama, and is considered auspicious.
Meanwhile, to ensure safe and undisturbed stay of these majestic cranes, Zemithang EAC Deewan Mara issued an order prohibiting activities in quarries and crushers near the habitats for the next 20 days. Any violation of this order would result in a penalty of Rs 10,000 or legal action will be taken.
