Arunachal gets 2 new districts – Keyi Panyor and Bichom, State Assembly passes Bill

Keyi Panyor district will be carved out from Lower Subansiri district, while Bichom district will be carved out from East Kameng and West Kameng districts.

The 13th session of 7th Legislative Assembly on Thursday passed the Arunachal Pradesh (Re-organisation of Districts) (Amendment) Bill, 2024, for creation of two new districts in the western and southern parts of the state.

The two new districts will be known as Keyi Panyor and Bichom. With these, the total number of districts in Arunachal Pradesh will go up to 28.

Taking to Twitter, CM Khandu wrote, “The 13th session of 7th Legislative Assembly today passed Arunachal Pradesh (Re-organisation of Districts) (Amendment) Bill, 2024, for creation of two new districts – Keyi Panyor (Headquarters at Yachuli circle, Ter Gapin – Sam Sath area) & Bichom (Headquarters at Napangphung).”

“The creation of two new districts is in the interest of better administration & fostering development. This will further ensure good governance & efficient delivery of government services & schemes. I thank all the members of Assembly for their unanimous support in emabling the smooth passage of this bill”, he added.

Keyi Panyor district will be carved out from Lower Subansiri district, while Bichom district will be carved out from East Kameng and West Kameng districts.
