The Army today launched a massive operation against the NDFB in the jungles of Chirang. Acting on a tip off that a 40 member group of the insurgent outfit under the leadership of NDFB area commander and sharp shooter Batha had entered the area, the Army launched the operation in which helicopters and a contingent of 400 soldiers including paratroopers have been pressed into service.
It may be mentioned that the Army has launched the operation especially against the NDFB Area commander Batha alias Binod Musahary. The 400 troops launched the focused operations from the Army’s Kokrajhar base, hunting for the NDFB insurgents in the dense forests of Chirang and Ripu reserves.
Meanwhile, security forces have also launched a massive operation in the Manas Reserve Forest to hunt down leader of NDFB(S) G Bidai. Close to 1000 army and SSB personnel are deployed in the area to hunt down the insurgents.
