Two officers–Faruk Ahmed and Ashima Kalita have been asked to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Guwahati today.

Earlier, this week, the SIT has arrested Sukanya Das, Additional Deputy Commissioner Police (ADCP) of the Guwahati Crime Branch for her alleged involvement in the scam.
So far, the Assam government has suspended 21 officers for their alleged involvement in the scam.
11 Assam Police officers, 4 civil servants and 6 from other services were suspended with immediate effect on December 1 for their involvement in the scam.
Assam Director General of Police, GP Singh on December 4 said that those who found guilty in the scam will face action as per the law.
DGP GP Singh said, “Those with evidence against them can be prosecuted and will face proper punishments, while those against whom evidence of minor wrongdoings are found will face departmental action.”
DGP Singh said, “The SIT constituted by the state government to probe the matter is on the job. It is compiling a list of evidences. Once it files the final report, the government will take the appropriate action based on the list of evidence it has against each party.”
