The Arunachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission (APPEIRC) has stepped in to inquire into the allegations of mismanagement of the Apex Professional University (APU).

The APPEIRC team was sent by the Governor to look into the complaints made by students and faculty against the university’s management.

Reaching the university APPEIRC met with the aggrieved students and faculty members of APU.

Several students along with the Pasighat based university’s former-Dean and Head faculty of Teachers Education, Anil Kumar Dubey, have alleged that the university has failed to provide necessary facilities, and exploited students by charging high fees.

They claimed that APU has turned into a degree selling shop and some of the faculties appointed do not follow the norms laid down by NCTE, PCI and BCI.

Speaking to the media, the students expressed hope that the APPEIRC team will submit a fair and comprehensive report to the Governor which will address their grievances.

It may be mentioned that Kumar was also asked to resign from the job for helping the students to pass the course who were actually and willfully failed by the management. Kumar also informed that his salaries amounting to nearly Rs 1 lakh were also not paid.

Meanwhile, the Adi Mishing Students’ Union has warned of taking up the issue onto a bigger platform if the government fails to address the issue.

Professor Debabrata Das heading the APPEIRC team informed that a detailed report of the findings will be submitted to the authority concerned so that a corrective measure if any could be directed to APU management for the welfare of the students and teaching and non-teaching staff of the university.
