Scores of students from Assam and the Northeast are stranded in Ukraine as Russian intrusion into the country has created an unprecedented situation.

Among those many Indian students stranded in war-torn Ukraine, is Nikita Jayanta who is pursuing her higher studies. So is  Pratiksha Gogoi who is also pursuing her higher studies in the medical field.

Parents of these students are pleading for help from authorities to facilitate their safe return.

Northeast Live also spoke to the father of Shreya D Rai, a first-year MBBS student at Taras Schevenko University in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. Her father AD Rai said that while her flight was scheduled for March 1st, the situation turned volatile all of a sudden. Shreya had gone to Ukraine only in December, her father informed.

Meanwhile, the mother of another MBBS student from Sikkim Purba Sherpa also expressed serious concerns over the situation. While She spoke to her son this afternoon, the mother Diki Lamu expressed helplessness over not being able to send any final assistance to him.
