Talks between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and different CSOs and pressure groups of the Northeast is set to continue in the national capital.

Shah will be meeting groups from Assam in New Delhi at the Assam House on Tuesday evening. As per sources, the meeting will start at 7 pm.

Reportedly, the Home Minister will first meet representatives of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), who have been firmly opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and state finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma are also slated to be present during the meet.

Later, Shah is expected to meet a delegation of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) over the issue of CAB and the organisation’s demand for the implementation of Inner Line Permit in Assam.

Shah is also slated to meet representatives of the six tribal communities of Assam seeking Scheduled Tribe status.

These include representatives from organisations such as Tai Ahom Students Union, Koch Rajbongshi Students Union, Chutia Students Union, Moran Students Union, Motok Students Union, Adivasi Students Union and the Tea Tribes Students Union.
