At a time when Meghalaya is battling the COVID-19 crisis, rumour mongers are working overtime to create more panic.
While the Meghalaya government had decided to extend the lockdown in state till April 30 and it was reported accordingly by Northeast Live, some elements photoshopped the same and tampered the date to May 15.
The tampering and subsequent circulation of a screenshot on social media created confusion among viewers who in turn contacted our Meghalaya Bureau Chief, following which the mischief was identified.
Meanwhile, Northeast Live has filed an FIR in this regard with the SP of East Khasi Hills district and further investigation is on.
