Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom has approved the request from Phassang Kassung, the President of Arunachal Law Students Union (ALSU) to hold a rally on August 26, starting from Akashdeep to IG Park’s Tennis Court.
The purpose of the rally is to protest against the Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (APUAPA), which the ALSU considers to be harsh. They are demanding that the law be cancelled.
The ALSU has been opposing the Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (APUAPA), referring to it as a severe law. Their main request is for the law to be revoked.
The call for repeal gained momentum when 44 individuals, including one young person, were detained for more than 20 days. Presently, 26 people are still in custody. They were apprehended for their involvement in a 72-hour protest.
This rally has been organized as a part of their ongoing campaign against the law, aiming to draw attention to their concerns.
