According to initial reports, both victim and the accused were in a love relationship
A Guwahati-based advocate has been arrested for allegedly making a woman’s objectionable pictures viral on social media.
The advocate has been identified as Zaheer Abbasi, a resident of Kchua in Nagaon district but has been staying in Chandmari area of the city for long time.
Zaheer Abbasi was picked up by Geetanagar Police on Sunday based on the FIR filed against him by a woman accusing him of making her objectionable pictures viral on social media.
According to initial reports, both victim and the accused were in a love relationship. The victim woman wanted to end her relationship with Zaheer Abbasi, due to which Abbasi threatened to make her private pictures viral on social media.
However, speaking to media, the victim woman maintained that they met each other on a social media platform a few days ago and became friends. They went out after becoming friends, when they clicked some pictures. Later, Abbasi used the pictures (some of which were objectionable) to blackmail her if she refused to get into a relationship with him.
“Abbasi said he will make my pictures viral on social media if I end the relationship with him. He will circulate the objectionable pictures with his friend and my boyfriend,” said the victim woman.
An investigation into the matter is underway.
